Boat Quay | Imakatsu イマカツ

Imakatsu is part a growing list of tonkatsu speciality restaurants and Japanese food establishments in Singapore. Imakatsu is a restaurant known for its tonkatsu (port cutlet) hailing from Tokyo's Roppongi district. Unlike the usual tonkatsu restaurants we have been to in Singapore, they provide condiments such as wasabi and lemon.

Appetizers include a shredded cabbage salad with goma dressing and pickles. The batter is comparatively thinner than Ma Maison's or Katsukura in Tokyo. I had ordered their Premium Pork Loin Cutlet which was competently done, the meat was tender, juicy with bits of fats expected from a pork loin (rather than pork fillet). I was however, disappointed with their batter, which lacks the contrasting crispy layering effect that I enjoyed in Yamabe or Katsukura's tonkatsu.

A meal here cost about 25-28 SGD with rice, miso soup included.
